How We Research

Most hotel guides ask you to trust them. This page exists so you don't have to — it sets out exactly how every claim on this site is produced, and what its limits are.

1. What we verify, and where it comes from

• Altitude, piste kilometres, lift counts and season dates — from the resort operator or tourist office site, not from other guides.
• Walking time to the nearest lift — measured as a mapped route, in minutes. Never estimated, never described as 'close to the slopes'.
• Room counts, star ratings and facilities — from the hotel's own site first, cross-checked against its Booking.com listing.
• Spa access, opening hours and whether it is included or charged — from the hotel's own site, because listings are frequently ambiguous on exactly this point.
• Parking availability and nightly price — from the hotel's own site.
• Which rooms to request and which to avoid — from recurring, concrete observations across guest reviews.

2. How review-mining works

We read guest reviews in volume and extract only what recurs and is concrete — "the rooms above the bar are loud until 1am", "the spa is busy between 17:00 and 19:00", "the west-facing balconies get the afternoon sun". We are looking for repeated, checkable observations.

We do not extract sentiment, and we do not reproduce or summarise individual reviews. A single person's opinion tells you nothing useful; the same specific complaint appearing forty times tells you a great deal.

3. What we don't claim

We have not stayed in every property on this site, and we don't pretend otherwise. Every page states plainly whether it is based on a first-hand stay or on desk research.

Where a fact has not been confirmed against a primary source, the page shows "Not yet verified" instead of a number. That is deliberate. A visible gap is more useful to you than a confident guess.

4. How often we re-check

Every page carries a "last verified" date. Facilities close, prices change and seasons shift, so a date is more honest than a claim of accuracy.

Season dates, spa hours and parking prices are re-checked before each winter. Structural facts — altitude, piste kilometres — are re-checked annually.

5. How we make money

Some outbound links to Booking.com are affiliate links. If you book after clicking one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That commission is the only revenue this site has.

No hotel pays to be included, to be ranked higher, or to be described favourably. We do not accept paid placement, sponsored reviews or gifted stays in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes, it will be stated on this page before it appears anywhere else.

6. Found an error?

Email hassan@hotelsavoie.com with the page link and what's wrong. Corrections are made and the page is re-dated so you can see it happened.
